Chantel Walker returns to the Tennessee SLUGFEST cage this Saturday at Revolver of Cookeville, looking to build on her 1-1 record. After multiple last-minute opportunities, Walker is ready to step back under the lights with confidence, experience and one goal in mind—getting her hand raised. SF: You made your Tennessee SLUGFEST debut on February 21st and earned a victory. What do you remember most about that first experience inside the SLUGFEST cage? Chantel: I remember being nervous and not knowing what to expect. SF: In May, you stepped in on short notice to face Novelly Jones. Even though the result didn’t go your way, what did you learn from that fight?
Chantel: I learned that every match is a win as long as you step into the cage and give it your all. SF: You were prepared to step in again at the last minute on July 18th, but the fight couldn’t be approved. How frustrating was it to get ready to compete and then not be able to enter the cage? Chantel: It was very frustrating. I was definitely hyped and ready to compete that night.” SF: This time, you’ve had advance notice and a full opportunity to prepare. How different has this felt compared to your previous last-minute opportunities? Chantel: Honestly, I’m coming in without a full training camp again this time. However, I’m mentally prepared, and I have notes and lessons from my previous fights that I’ll be using along the way. SF: At 1-1, what improvements are you most excited to show when you return to the cage this Saturday? Chantel: I’m excited to show that I can steady myself and watch my opponent instead of just going in there swinging. SF: What can the fans at Revolver of Cookeville expect when Chantel Walker steps back into the Tennessee SLUGFEST cage? Walker: They can expect me to walk into the cage with the confidence of a professional and walk out after my hand has been raised.
